Plastic waste which is floating around in the landscape is collected before being burned out in the open air or being dumped in the sea

The plastic waste is washed, segregated into colours, stripped and finally handwoven onto wooden looms.

We work with local Artisans in Gujarat, India.

The plastic-waste-collecting initiative was started by a group of women, who wERE fed up BY seeing their local surroundings being inundated with plastic trash. So They decided to do something about it.

they combined their exceptional weaving skills, past down from their cultural heritage, with the increasing THREAT, that plastic WASTE POSE in today’s world, and created a whole new material.

TODAY NOT ONLY WOMEN WEAVES THE PLASTIC, BUT ALSO MEN. TO BEGIN WITH IT WAS ONLY WOMEN WHO WERE WEAVING IT, AS THE PLASTIC WASTE WAS LOOKED DOWN UPON AS A MATERIAL. HOWEVER, NOW SINCE WE’VE REALLY WORKED ON MAKING THIS PLASTIC WASTE MATERIAL DESIRABLE, WE SEE ALSO MEN BEING INTERESTED IN WEAVING IT :)
